What is Bulimia?
Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder where someone attempts to lose weight in massive amounts in a short period of time. This is done by binge eating which is when someone eats a lot of food in a short period of time. Both men and women may have this eating disorder. According to the Mayo Clinic, bulimia can be characterized in two ways:
1. Purging - Self-inducted vomiting, use of laxatives, etc.
2. Non-purging - Dieting, excessive amounts of exercise, and starving (fasting).
