Electrolytes are vital in maintaining homeostasis in one's body. It helps with neurological function as well as oxygen delivery to different parts of the body. Not only that, but it keeps the acid in the body neutral. However, when an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia kicks in, electrolyte imbalances occur. This may lead to serious consequences in the body. These consequences may be cardiac arrest and failure or even death.
